I have a very extensive Plex library set up. One of the collections I built was a Films in Los Angeles list so I just posted that along with my commentary. There were actually a ton of films I left out intentionally because this was supposed to be a list of good films only, but I decided to cave and include all suggestions, haha. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) Vintage 1981 Limited Edition 40 years Of Being Awesome T-Shirt was shot in Sierra Madre, not overtly LA though. Thanks for dropping Memento in there among many others! As  a Valley kid (and now Valley adult?), I love seeing this with great cinema.  Ask the Dust. A mediocre movie based on a much better book, but it’s neat to see what the city would have looked like during the Depression.

Sadly so much of historic LA has been destroyed since then they had to film it on sound stages in South Africa. I think I should said “hidden” gems, I feel most of what I listed are very well known mainstream movies, but either way glad to see that my taste ain’t all that bad. Short cuts, repo man, to live and die in la, suburbia, killing of a chines bookie, the player,Vintage 1981 Limited Edition 40 years Of Being Awesome T-Shirt the loved one, body double, ed wood, the long goodbye, busting, Minnie and moscowitz, massacre mafia style, decline of the western civilization I know the Office takes place in Scantron but pretty much it’s all filmed in the Valley. Any Valley residents can recognize locations primarily in Studio City, North Hollywood, Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Panorama City, Encino, Lake Balboa, and others. So I sometimes count it as “LA”. Same with Parks and Recreation.

Ah, well I’m sure there a lot of people who enjoyed it. I recall the movie was sold out for like a couple of months after it premiered in July of 2007. You are already including some dumb movies like Volcano but don’t want to include this one seems a bit unfair. Otherwise just say that you will include movies that only you enjoyed and I’ll be on my way. Please don’t take it the wrong way! This was a list of my personal picks, not a comprehesnive list of all LA movies. There is a Wikipedia article for that already. Believe me, there are defintiely a couple on my list that are objectively terrible movies but have redeeming qualities that make them watchable.
