I think Crimson Peak is exactly what it wanted to be and is fascinating to me: A blending of the “male” and “female” gothic genres. I really liked it and think a lot of people, including the boys, were expecting something that wasn’t a Gothic Romance. I imagine the promotion was what did that, but thankfully I missed that. I was thinking about the other day and I honestly can’t decide if I like it or think it’s a good movie or whatever. I remember watching it with my mom who loves scary movies and she was pissed it wasn’t scary haha. It has the feel of a movie from 10 years prior. Movies nowadays don’t go balls deep into set design like movies used to.
