Oh, what a lucky lady! Chocolates are the derpiest, sweetest, goofiest, funniest, cuddliest, most loving dogs. This little guy looks good and hefty like he should be. Next time you see a young puppy, give them a snarf. It’s nice.

Do chocolates have relatively short lifespans? Annecdotal, but my aunt has gone through four pairs of chocolate labs in ~20 years… maybe she just has exceptionally bad luck but they keep getting lumps and cancer which makes me worry shen I see chocolates :My Favorite Bunnies Call Me Mom Bunny Easter Day T-Shirt ( Labs in general normal lifespan is 12-15 years. Purebreds have a higher chance of cancers and whatnot due to genetics. Mix breeds fare better.

My first one lived 11 yrs exactly, I have another one now who turned 12 in December and she’s still running in circles and jumping and going for long walks every day. I switched to raw food a while ago and I believe it makes a difference. They do tend to live shorter lives than yellow or black labs. Chocolate is a recessive gene so their breeding pool is smaller. It leads to more genetic problems. I will take him when and if my mom can no longer take care of him.
