Always the best quilts have parts of their creators’ lives quietly included-I still remember a quilt from my childhood-my grandmother must have put her kids clothes in it for my mom’s babies or something-they were plaids, and polka dots and prints of Disney Characters with the flowers and solids!Messy Bun Leopard It’s My 68th Birthday T-Shirt I would rub Snow White or Cinderella’s pretty dress as I fell asleep into my nap-it (of course!) is a rag now, but it was a good quilt! I think these are the best kinds- when you can point to a block and say “this piece came from _____, and this one from _____, and this one from ___…”

Brave for using polyester. I made a quilt from my dad’s shirts long ago and most of them were poly and frayed really badly. I had to use more than 1/4″ seams on them and quilt it well. This quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I think my favorite thing is that bright yellow area down near the bottom. Looks like a ray of sunshine is falling on the quilt, Messy Bun Leopard It’s My 68th Birthday T-Shirt which will be a lovely cheerful thing whenever someone looks at it. Thanks for the heads up about working with polyester, I like to imagine using my mixed cotton/poly scraps for a quilt. Maybe I’ll keep it for smaller art projects so less hassle to finish.
