I was sitting in class having just finished a spelling test.Dream team Third Grade Teachers T-Shirt  I had gotten a 100% on the test and was able to pick out a piece of candy as a reward. I picked an Atomic Fireball and popped it in my mouth on my way back to my seat. Somehow the candy became logdged in my trachea Little, dumb, me decided ‘Oh I’ll just sit down and try and swallow the thing whole’ not knowing that humans have 2 different pipes. After a few moments of struggling I decided to get up and get a drink of water, thinking that’ll help wash it down. Spoiler alert It didn’t.

I returned to my desk and started to get a little woozy, it was at that moment I decided to go to my teachers desk, who was a big burly man. I mouthed ‘I can’t breathe’ while pointing to my throat cause Dream team Third Grade Teachers T-Shirt I didn’t know the universal choking symbol. Mr. Thompson shot up from his desk, spun me around, and gave me the heimlich a few times. The thing shot out of my mouth to the ground. I picked it up and threw it in the trash and apologized to him, then I went back and sat down like nothing happened.

Mr. Thompson is the only reason I’m still here, and I haven’t had an Atomic Fireball since that day ~20 years ago. Well you’ve got some dna in you that wants to survive, so I’m certain you’d do the same in life or death scenarios I’ve read that people die in restrooms because they want to avoid embarrassment and try to deal with it themselves.
